Data center decommissioning

When a data center is moved, upgraded or closed, large volumes of servers, storage and network equipment are retired at once. We coordinate inventory and pickup with your team, destroy storage media and recycle the equipment with documented certificates.

Data center decommissioning is the documented disposal of servers, storage and network equipment when a data center is moved, upgraded or closed: inventory, storage-media destruction, then equipment recycling, with certificates at every stage. Triple RE provides it with optional on-site data destruction.

What we collect

  • Servers and storage

Drives, SSDs and SAN/NAS units that hold data.

  • Network equipment

Routers, switches, firewalls and transmission gear.

  • Power infrastructure

UPS units, batteries and cables; batteries are treated as hazardous waste.

  • Reusable assets

We assess what can be refurbished or bought after data wiping.

How it works

  • Inventory & planning

List equipment, flag what holds data and agree a pickup date with your team.

  • Data destruction

On-site or at the plant, by NIST 800-88 wiping or physical destruction.

  • Pickup & transport

Equipment moved by a dedicated fleet for hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

  • Recycling

Dismantling and precious-metal recovery at our licensed plant.

  • Certificates & report

Data destruction certificate, recycling certificate and final report for compliance and ESG.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can storage media be destroyed inside the data center?

Yes. On-site destruction is available where policy forbids media leaving; equipment is then taken for recycling.

What about equipment that still works?

It can be assessed for reuse or purchase after secure data wiping, priced by type and condition.

How long does pickup take?

Usually 3 to 7 days; very large shipments (over 10 tonnes) can take up to two weeks.

Do you handle UPS batteries?

Yes. They are transported and treated as hazardous waste under our licensed activity.
