To choose an e-waste recycler in Egypt, check seven things: a valid WMRA license, a treatment plant in Egypt, ISO certificates, the data destruction method and certificate, licensed transport, geographic coverage and verifiable clients. Ask for the document behind each one before signing.
1. WMRA license
Waste Management Law 202 of 2020 keeps the generating company liable for its waste until it reaches a licensed party. Ask for the approval, its number and the licensed activity, and check it covers recycling of electronic and electrical waste.
2. A treatment plant in Egypt
Some collectors resell waste to others. A serious recycler runs its own plant where waste is treated and metals recovered, at an address you can verify.
3. ISO certificates
Look for ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment) and ISO 45001 (safety), with certificate numbers, issuer and expiry.
4. Data destruction and certificate
Ask how data is destroyed (NIST 800-88 wiping or physical destruction), whether it can be done at your premises, and request a sample destruction certificate.
5. Licensed transport
Hazardous waste such as batteries needs a dedicated fleet and safe-transport compliance.
6. Coverage and turnaround
If you have branches outside Cairo, make sure the recycler collects from all of them, and ask about pickup and certificate timelines.
7. Clients and track record
Ask for client names in your sector, years in operation and volumes processed.

How Triple RE meets these criteria
Triple RE has operated since 2011, holds WMRA approval no. 3042 and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certificates, and has recycled more than 10,000 tonnes for over 600 companies. We collect from every governorate within 3–7 days, offer on-site data destruction, and issue certificates within 14 days.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a commercial registration enough?
No. A commercial registration does not replace a WMRA approval for treating and recycling e-waste.
Is the cheapest recycler the best choice?
Not necessarily. Using an unlicensed party can expose your company to legal liability and data leaks, which cost far more than the price difference.
How many approved e-waste recyclers are there in Egypt?
In October 2025 the Ministry of Environment announced 43 approved facilities for recycling e-waste and cables.
